Windesheim has highest satisfaction with studying with a support need
This year, Windesheim students are again the most satisfied with the facilities offered for studying with a support need. This emerges from the student satisfaction report on studying with a support need published annually by the Expert Centre on Inclusive Education (ECIO). Once again, Windesheim has the best scores of all major universities of applied sciences on all nine themes. Students are most satisfied with the test-taking facilities offered, the information they receive after a personal interview and the educational facilities. They appreciate the commitment, understanding and counselling with all available options.
“This is a great compliment to all staff working hard to help students who really need this support”, says Executive Board President Inge Grimm. “We believe it’s very important to have been the top-ranking university of applied sciences in supporting students with a disability ever since 2016. And it’s the result of a choice we’ve made. We want to be that inclusive university of applied sciences.”
One of the initiatives in line with this policy is the project Sterk aan het Werk, which focuses on supporting students with a disability in finding suitable, sustainable jobs. This two-year programme starts in the year of graduation and provides supervision to graduates looking for jobs and during the initial work period in their new jobs. In April of this year, the programme won the Bridge of Fame award(opens in new tab).
Report on Support Need 2024
The Report on Support Needs 2024(opens in new tab) also provides more insight into growth opportunities. Students’ study experience can be improved by raising awareness of support facilities and stepping up information provision. At Windesheim too we will continue to develop in this regard.
Best-ranking higher-education institutions
Among the major universities of applied sciences, the students of Windesheim UAS are the most satisfied. HAS Green Academy has the best ranking of the medium-sized universities of applied sciences. Viaa and Driestar come out on top among the small universities of applied sciences. University of Twente and Radboud University Nijmegen share the top ranking among universities for wo-Bachelor students, with Radboud also topping the ranking for the wo-Master’s programmes.
National Student Survey (NSE)
The report is based on the results of the National Student Survey (NSE) 2024. ECIO analysed the answers given by students with a support need in the NSE 2024. The NSE includes a separate module to cover this.
