I took over a start-up located on campus that has a circular business model
My name is Yigit. I’m a third year student at Windesheim Honours College (WHC) now. I’m form Ankara, Turkey and I’ve lived in Sofia, Bulgaria since I was 6, studying at an American International school there before moving to Zwolle!
I’m the new owner of Zwolsche Zwammen (born originally from WHC), a start-up located on campus that has a circular business model through the collection of coffee grounds and production of fresh oyster mushrooms which are used to sell to restaurants like Meneer Jan and Kas van Kaat as raw product or in vegan bitterballen and kroketten.
I initially took over the business with Gijs, also a student from our study year, but I now run it by myself. Of course with the help and support of many people like professor Heico van der Blonk from Networks in a Circular Economy at Windesheim, Jens van Stralen from facility management, Ferna Jalink as a start-up coach and WHC lecturer, the Gemeente Zwolle, Windesheim Center for Entrepreneurship and many more people.
I look forward to growing the business and collaborate with brands like Anders Koffie (organic and biological coffee supplied by Tjerk Kooistra) and expand to the Zwolse hospitality industry.
