Nicolette leads the professorship of Positive Climate for Youth Sports, focusing her research on contributing to sustainable knowledge development in creating a pedagogical and safe sports environment. Since June 1, 2022, she has also been a professor at the University of Twente (UT) and works one day a week as a strategic advisor at the Dutch Olympic Committee * Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF).

Research Focus

Nicolette has set a central goal for the professorship to develop systematic knowledge through a multi-year research programme, all from a pedagogical perspective. Through practice-oriented research, the lectoraat aims to contribute to sustainable knowledge development in the area of a safe sports environment.

Education

Nicolette completed her studies at the Catholic Academy for Physical Education and later studied social sciences at Utrecht University. She obtained her PhD from the same university in 1998 on the topic of the physiological and psychosocial effects of exercise programs for children with asthma.

Research Experience

After her studies, Nicolette worked as a university lecturer at Utrecht University and as a teacher in physical education. In 2002, she made the transition to NOC*NSF, where she worked in various advisory roles.
